Packing Up and Moving On

At the end of this month (maybe a bit before), I am going to be making this site private for a 365, and moving to a new site on Squarespace.  If you visit there now, you won’t see much of anything (no posts, etc.), and you may actually see a big mess at times, as I am fighting with working on the design, etc.  I have been with WordPress for 9 years, and so this whole “block” thing in Squarespace has me baffled most of the time, but I’m getting there.

If you follow me here and wish to follow along in my new home, you can do so via Bloglovin’ or any other reader you are using.

On another note, is anyone experiencing the same non-spring that we here in NY are experiencing???
As I write this, there is snow coming down, covering my beautiful Hellebore buds that I’d waited so long to see, and I’m still wearing waaaaaay too many layers on my morning runs.  I’m sure this is just a way of making me appreciate summer more, right?

About this photo…no, he is not mine but I think he spends a lot of time on Newbury Street in Boston.  This was the third time I’d seen him there.  Hmmmmm, maybe I spend a lot of time on Newbury Street?  🙂  Anyway, indeed he does have a precious face, but it was his backpack-style coat that caught my attention on this day.  So sweet.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for being here.
xo.

  2. Ohhh, I’d like to see the 365, too! Meanwhile, I’ve bookmarked your new site and will check you out there (I don’t use a reader, I just use my blogroll). Looks good from the brief look I got. That dog is very cute and well-dressed!

  3. So exciting that you are going for a 365 and hopefully you will let us in on the project at some point. Just took a quick glimpse at your new site, and it looks fabulous. A little pity that the site is not open for comments. 🙂

  4. Good luck with the move to Squarespace! Spring has been so tricky everywhere, and it’s already summer weather where I’m at.

  5. Yup…non-spring in Toronto too. Actually we had an ice storm this weekend 😩 the new site looks great Lisa.

  6. Good luck on your new blog – I will add it to my feedly list. Having recently moved over to WordPress, I am still learning on the ins and outs. It’s amazing the learning curve of a new platform! I work near Newbury Street, but don’t get over there nearly as often as I would like. No spring here in Boston, yet – I’m thinking it’s going to make summer very exciting once it finally comes! I’m feeling bad for the runners of the marathon tomorrow, though. I hope they’re able to stay warm!

  7. Hi Lisa, Sorry I am late in responding but wanted to wish you good luck with your new blog. That is a big change. Need to read again to see how I find you– I used Bloglovin’ once but never really returned. Hope it goes really well for you!

  8. Congratulations on ‘moving on’ and wishing your new blog-space to be everything you hope it to be. I’ll be continuing to follow, of course!

  9. That’s a super photo, what a look, and I like the way you got down on his level, and blurred the edges….and please, let Spring come! It’s just wrong when winter glides into summer with not much Spring. I hope that snow was just a fluke. I was curious about the reasons behind the move too, but I see your answer above. It’s good to challenge yourself to learn something new. And best of luck with the 365 – another challenge! Good for you. 🙂

  11. Hi Lisa, thank you for letting us know! I’ll be sure to follow you at your new blog. Good luck with the design. I don’t know much about Squarespace, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out. As for Spring, I’m afraid it’s not here yet. Still cold, rainy, and snowy. I hope it shows up soon! Cute pic of the dog. Have a great weekend, my friend! xo

    • I hope spring shows up soon too, Loredana!
Not going to be today though, I don’t think. As I write this, it is snowing and 12 degrees. Brrrrrr.
Thank you so much for your visit and kind comment, and have a wonderful week ahead, my friend.

    • Hey Kim!!

If you use a reader like Bloglovin’ you can just paste my new URL in the search box there, and the reader will find it. Then you just click “Follow.” If I remember correctly, you have a WordPress site(?). If so, WordPress has its own reader, and you can use that one. I actually just put a Bloglovin’ button up there this morning. It’s at the bottom of the homepage, and you just need to click on it.

I am probably not going to use “Subscribe by “Email” because the integration is with MailChimp, and I just learned that they insist that a physical address (my address) be on all notifications sent out. Not comfortable with that at all, so unless I find a workaround, I won’t be doing email subscriptions.

Hope this helps, and if not, you just let me know.

Thank you so very much for stopping by, my friend.

  14. I’m not sure we’re going to have any spring here in middle Missouri. One day it’s 50, the next it’s low 30s and a wind chill in the teens! Rain and (ACKKKK) snow is still in the forecast for the weekend. I’m very sick of winter. I look forward to seeing your new space! Thank you for continuing to stop by my place and leaving such nice comments. xoxoxo

    • Middle Missouri sounds a lot like here, Lisa.
Right now we are having torrential rains and very heavy winds. The 50ish temps we saw this morning will drop to the low 30’s this afternoon.
Thank you so very much for your visit, my friend.

  15. What a precious puppy! I’ll try to find you on Squarespace, but lately I’ve relied on emails letting me know you’ve posted something. I’m really bad about checking my Blog Feed site – it might be Blog Lovin’, I’m not sure. 🙂 Good luck on doing a 365! I keep starting one in a FlickR group with great intentions, but only make it a couple of days. Sigh. As far as spring goes, ours has been pretty awesome this year, I have to admit. But it will give way to summer soon!

    • Oh, I do know what you mean about the 365. We’ll see how it goes.
I am glad that you are having a great spring. I always look forward to your Blue Bonnet photos. I just love those flowers. I’m not sure if we have those here. I do know I’ve not seen them here, and I think they’re so beautiful.
Thank you so very much for your visit and kind comment.
      You have a wonderful day!

  16. Lisa, here in IN we “thought” we’d escaped a lot of winter since February was fairly mild, and overall snow fall was low. Well, then the past two weeks we’ve made up for that. Today is torrential rains, and more snow predictions. Thankful my daffodils bloomed last week, and the others are still in buds. Looking forward to your new Squarespace…I love the ones I visit. Possibly one day I’ll take the plunge. Good luck with getting things all set up, and working. I know you’ll make it look fabulous! Happy week sweet friend. xx

    • I guess it’s been an unusual winter in many places, Beverly.
Today is our day for the torrential rains and 50 mph winds. Right now it is quite nice outside temperature-wise, but they say that by this afternoon, we will be in the low 30’s.
I just took a walk around the yard and found my snowdrops, so I’m feeling better now! Our daffodils have just begun to poke through the soil, so it will be a while before we see flowers.
Thank you so very much for stopping by, AND for your confidence in me. We’ll see how it goes. 🙂
Have a wonderful day, sweet friend.

  17. Most of Europe is getting a very strange spring as well, Lisa. The temperatures are all over the place and it’s seasonably cold and very few flowers are in bloom. I usually love spring the best of all our four seasons. Hot and humid summers are difficult for me to bear.
So you are moving to Square-space. I know other people who have done that. I find it complicated leaving comments there for some reason.
I popped into the link you gave and saw a beautiful beach scene!
I wish you a smooth transition to your new site!

    • Thank you, Sandra.
Thus far, we’ve just had a very cold snowy spring. Usually, by now, we’ve had some warm weather, and hints of new life, but not so far this year.
From what I have seen so far, it looks like there are a lot of adjustments that can be made to the comments set-up in Squarespace. About the only issue I have ever had when commenting on a Squarespace site was having to fill in my name and email address. When I set mine up, I will try to make it as simple as possible.
Again, thank you for stopping by, and have a great week ahead.

It sounds like very strange weather. Lovely photo, too.

I have not yet posted anything on the other site yet, but I will be posting there as soon as I get the set-up the way I like it.

Right now, there are no posts there yet though.

    • No, once I start posting there, Debbie, you should be able to leave comments (you can turn them on and off for each post), and if for some reason you cannot, just let me know. There are a lot of things I have to learn and work out yet, but I’m doing just a little at a time, and am actually enjoying the challenge. Most of the time. 🙂
Thank you so very much for your visit and kind words, my friend.

  24. Lisa I’m a Boston guy myself and shoot a lot of street shots there. Quick question what prompted you to switch?

    Liked by 1 person

    • It nice to “meet” you, John! I am in NY, but my son is in Boston, and so I spend quite a bit of time there. I also lived there for about 10 years before moving back to NY.

Why the switch? Well, I am going to keep this site with WordPress. I know WordPress so well at this point, and their support is second to none, but I’ve also been looking at some of the Squarespace sites (templates) for some time now, and I love the clean minimal look of many of them “right out of the box.” I am also finding that there is a bit more design flexibility without having to know CSS. Admittedly, I have struggled quite a bit learning a new system, but my progress keeps me going.

Thank you so very much for your visit!

  25. Good Luck on your new space! I’ll find you there. That dog’s face is so cute. Here in CO we have less snowpack than average. We still get snow every few days in Breckenridge, but all of CO is very dry for this time of year. Hope your snow melts soon!

  26. I have two blogs on Squarespace. I took a class not long ago and designed my own new web page and I love it. You’ll get the blocks after a while. Enjoy your time over there. I don’t think one can spend to much time on Newbury St. I’m feeling the need to get back in there…Happy Spring…when it finally arrives but it is on its way…I have proof…

    • Thank you so much, Cheryl! As frustrated as I’ve been with it at times, I am actually enjoying the experience of taking on something new, especially with the weather the way it’s been. I DO enjoy Newbury St. 🙂 I was there a couple of weekends ago, and fortunately it was a pretty good day weather-wise.
Happy Spring to you, my friend, and again, thank you for your visit!
